Accenture Digital Assessment: Complete Guide (2026)

Author: Taylor Warfield, Former Bain Manager and interviewer

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

The Accenture digital assessment is an online test with two sections that you must pass before advancing to interviews. It evaluates your situational judgment and numerical reasoning through a simulated consulting project, and it typically takes 60 to 90 minutes to complete.

If you have an upcoming Accenture assessment, this guide covers everything you need to pass, including how the test works, example questions with detailed answers, scoring details, and 10 proven tips.

But first, a quick heads up:

McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and other top firms accept less than 1% of applicants every year. If you want to triple your chances of landing interviews and 8x your chances of passing them, watch my free 40-minute training.

What Is the Accenture Digital Assessment?

The Accenture digital assessment is an online evaluation split into two sections: the Situational Judgment Test and the Numerical Reasoning Test. It is designed to measure your data analysis, logical reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

According to Accenture, the combined test takes 60 to 90 minutes to complete. The assessment is not officially timed, but Accenture recommends finishing it in one sitting. Around 50 to 60% of candidates do not pass this stage, so preparation matters.

The test is delivered through Accenture's Discovery Portal and simulates a real consulting engagement. You will work through interactive scenarios including emails, video clips, charts, and a simulated client call. In my experience coaching thousands of candidates, this assessment tests your ability to think like a consultant, not just your raw math skills.

When Do You Take the Accenture Digital Assessment?

You will be invited to take the Accenture digital assessment after passing the initial online application screening. Based on reported candidate experiences, this invitation typically arrives within 3 to 5 weeks after you submit your application.

The assessment is the second step in Accenture's four stage hiring process. Here is where it fits:

  1. Online application submission (takes about 10 minutes)

  2. Accenture digital assessment via the Discovery Portal (60 to 90 minutes)

  3. Digital interview through HireVue (video recorded behavioral questions)

  4. Assessment centre or final round interviews (group case study, behavioral interview, problem solving activities)

Accenture uses the digital assessment for full time graduate hires and is expanding it to internship and experienced hire processes. The specific assessments you receive may vary depending on the role and business area you apply to. According to Accenture's careers page, the entire hiring process from application to offer typically takes 2 to 6 weeks.

If you are applying for an Accenture internship, the assessment format may differ slightly, but the core structure remains the same.

What Does the Situational Judgment Test Look Like?

The Situational Judgment Test places you inside a simulated consulting engagement with a client, a business problem, and a goal the client wants to achieve. You will navigate through interactive scenarios that mimic a real workday at Accenture.

Throughout the simulation, you will encounter email exchanges with colleagues, informational videos, charts and data, and a simulated video call with a client. For most questions, you are given five possible courses of action and asked to rank them from 1 (most likely action you would take) to 5 (least likely).

Accenture evaluates your responses against the profile of a successful consultant. Your rankings are compared to Accenture's six core values:

  • Client Value Creation: Focus on delivering tangible value to the client

  • One Global Network: Collaborate across teams and geographies

  • Respect for the Individual: Value diverse perspectives and treat others with dignity

  • Best People: Attract, develop, and retain top talent

  • Integrity: Be honest, ethical, and transparent in all interactions

  • Stewardship: Build a stronger company for the future and give back to communities

Understanding these values is the single most important thing you can do to prepare for the situational judgment section. When two answers seem equally reasonable, the one that better aligns with these values will score higher.

Example Situational Judgment Question and How to Answer It

Here is an example that reflects the style of questions you will see on the Accenture digital assessment.

Scenario: You are working on a team project. Your manager asks you to build a new client presentation using an approach that you believe will not address the client's actual problem. What do you do?

(a) Build the presentation exactly as the manager requested without raising concerns

(b) Refuse to build the presentation and explain why the approach is wrong

(c) Research the manager's approach and your preferred approach, then propose a combined solution that addresses the client's problem

(d) Build the presentation but email the manager afterward explaining your concerns

(e) Ask a more senior colleague for their perspective before taking action

The strongest answer is (c). It shows client value creation by focusing on solving the client's real problem. It also demonstrates respect for the individual by not dismissing the manager's idea outright, and integrity by not staying silent about a potential issue.

The next best answers are (d) and (e). Both show initiative, but (d) addresses the concern too late and (e) delays action. The weakest answers are (a) and (b). Option (a) ignores the client's needs, while (b) is confrontational and lacks collaboration.

What Does the Numerical Reasoning Test Look Like?

The Numerical Reasoning Test evaluates your ability to interpret data, perform calculations, and draw logical conclusions. Unlike the situational judgment section, this section uses traditional multiple choice questions where you select one correct answer out of five options.

You will be presented with charts, graphs, and data tables. The math required is not advanced. Expect arithmetic, percentages, ratios, and basic algebra. The challenge is accuracy under pressure and correctly extracting data from visuals. According to candidate reports, the questions are roughly at a high school math level.

In my experience, the biggest reason candidates struggle on this section is not the math itself but misreading the charts. Always double check which axis you are reading and what units are being used.

Example Numerical Reasoning Question and How to Answer It

Scenario: A company spent $40,000 on digital advertising in Q1 and generated $200,000 in revenue. In Q2, the advertising budget increased by 50% and revenue increased by 25%. What was the Q2 revenue?

(a) $225,000    (b) $240,000    (c) $250,000    (d) $260,000    (e) $300,000

The correct answer is (c) $250,000. Q1 revenue was $200,000 and the question states revenue increased by 25%. So Q2 revenue = $200,000 x 1.25 = $250,000. Note that the advertising budget increase is extra information designed to distract you. Always identify exactly what the question is asking before calculating.

How Is the Accenture Digital Assessment Scored?

Accenture has not published an official scoring rubric, but here is what we know based on candidate data and reported experiences.

For the Situational Judgment Test, your responses are compared against the behavioral profile of a successful Accenture consultant. There are no strictly right or wrong answers, but responses that align with Accenture's six core values score significantly higher.

For the Numerical Reasoning Test, your score is based on accuracy. Based on reported candidate data, you likely need around 60% or higher to pass this section. There is no negative marking, so you should always answer every question.

Accenture currently states that time is not factored into your score. However, past versions of the assessment did include time constraints, so completing the test efficiently is still recommended. Candidates typically hear back within 2 days to 2 weeks after completing the assessment.

How Should You Prepare for the Accenture Digital Assessment?

How to Prepare for the Situational Judgment Section

Preparation for the situational judgment section is primarily about understanding Accenture's values and learning to think like a consultant. Here is what to focus on.

First, memorize Accenture's six core values listed above. When you face a difficult question with two seemingly equal answers, the one that better reflects these values will be the stronger choice. In my experience coaching candidates, this single step improves situational judgment scores more than anything else.

Second, prioritize answers that create client value and demonstrate collaboration. Accenture is looking for candidates who proactively solve problems rather than just reporting issues or following orders without thinking critically.

Third, practice with sample situational judgment questions. The more familiar you are with the ranking format, the faster and more confidently you will move through the real assessment.

How to Prepare for the Numerical Reasoning Section

The numerical reasoning section does not require advanced math. Focus your preparation on speed and accuracy with basic concepts.

Brush up on percentages, ratios, fractions, and basic algebra. Practice reading bar charts, line graphs, pie charts, and data tables quickly. The most common mistakes come from misreading axes or mixing up units.

Use the process of elimination. If you can rule out two or three obviously wrong answers, you increase your odds significantly even when uncertain. Practice under light time pressure to build comfort. According to research on aptitude test performance, candidates who practice beforehand perform measurably better than those who do not.

What Are the Best Tips to Pass the Accenture Digital Assessment?

Having coached over 30,000 candidates for consulting interviews, here are 10 tips that will help you pass the Accenture digital assessment.

  1. Complete the test in one sitting. Accenture recommends this, and starting and stopping can break your focus and momentum.

  2. Choose your best time of day. Take the assessment when you are most alert and focused. For most people, this is morning or early afternoon.

  3. Eliminate distractions. Close all browser tabs, silence your phone, and find a quiet room. Technical glitches or interruptions can cost you valuable focus.

  4. Ensure your tech works. Test your internet connection, browser, and device before starting. Charge your laptop fully or plug it in.

  5. Study Accenture's six core values. These values are the answer key for the situational judgment section. When stuck between two options, pick the one that best reflects client value creation, integrity, or collaboration.

  6. Read every answer option before ranking. On the situational judgment test, resist the urge to rank immediately. Read all five options first, identify the strongest and weakest, then fill in the middle.

  7. Double check chart data before calculating. On the numerical section, confirm which axis, time period, and units the question is referencing. Most math errors come from misreading the source data.

  8. Never leave a question blank. There is no negative marking. A guess is always better than no answer.

  9. Use process of elimination. On numerical questions, quickly estimate the answer range to eliminate obviously wrong choices before doing the precise calculation.

  10. Stay calm and trust your preparation. Take a few deep breaths before starting and between sections. Anxiety hurts performance more than lack of knowledge.

What Common Mistakes Should You Avoid?

After reviewing feedback from hundreds of candidates who took the Accenture digital assessment, these are the five most common mistakes.

Overthinking the situational judgment questions. Many candidates spend too long agonizing over the ranking order. There are no perfectly wrong answers on these questions. Trust your instinct, align with Accenture's values, and move on.

Misreading chart data on the numerical section. This is the number one cause of wrong answers. Always verify the axis labels, time periods, and units before doing any math.

Not completing the test in one sitting. While the assessment technically allows you to pause, breaking your session can disrupt your focus. Plan to block out 90 uninterrupted minutes.

Ignoring Accenture's core values. Candidates who answer the situational judgment section based purely on personal instinct, without considering what Accenture specifically looks for, score lower. Spend 30 minutes studying Accenture's values before taking the test.

Rushing through without reading all response options. Some candidates rank the first good answer as number one without reading the remaining choices. A better option might be further down the list.

What Happens After You Pass the Accenture Digital Assessment?

Passing the digital assessment advances you to the next stages of Accenture's hiring process. Here is what to expect.

What Is the Accenture Digital Interview?

The digital interview is conducted through HireVue, a video interview platform. You will be asked a series of questions and given a set amount of time to record your responses. Unlike a live interview, there is no real time interaction with an interviewer.

Expect behavioral questions such as "Tell me about a time you worked on a team to solve a problem" and simple logical reasoning questions about how you would act in certain situations. According to Accenture, there are no full case interviews at this stage.

The HireVue platform evaluates your verbal responses, body language, and tone of voice. Practice recording yourself answering common consulting behavioral questions. Maintain a confident posture, speak clearly, and avoid filler words.

What Happens at the Accenture Assessment Centre?

After passing the digital interview, you will be invited to the final round. This is often called the Virtual Assessment Centre, though some offices hold it in person. The format varies by role and level.

You can expect a combination of activities:

  • Group case study: Unlike most consulting firms, Accenture uses a group format for case interviews. You will work with other candidates to analyze a business problem and present recommendations.

  • Behavioral interview: A one on one interview focused on your experiences with teamwork, conflict resolution, leadership, and creative problem solving.

  • Problem solving exercises: Interactive games or activities designed to test your analytical skills and decision making under pressure.

  • Networking sessions: Informal conversations with current Accenture consultants. These are not scored but are a chance to learn about the culture and demonstrate your enthusiasm.

For a detailed breakdown of what to expect at this stage, see our guide on Accenture case interviews.

If you want to learn case interviews quickly before your assessment centre, my case interview course walks you through proven strategies in as little as 7 days.

Can You Retake the Accenture Digital Assessment?

Yes, but you must wait at least 6 months after your last digital assessment or interview before reapplying to Accenture. This policy applies regardless of how far you progressed in the hiring process.

If you do not pass the assessment, use the 6 month waiting period productively. Practice numerical reasoning questions, study Accenture's values more deeply, and gain new experiences you can draw on during situational judgment scenarios.

You can also apply for different positions at Accenture, as the assessment may vary by role. Accenture hires across consulting, technology, operations, and strategy. For more on the different tracks, see our guide on the Accenture Business Analyst interview.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Accenture digital assessment timed?

Accenture currently states that the assessment is not timed and that time is not factored into your score. However, they recommend completing it in one sitting and estimate it takes 60 to 90 minutes. Past versions of the test did include time limits, so working efficiently is still advisable.

How long does Accenture take to respond after the digital assessment?

Candidates typically hear back from Accenture within 2 days to 2 weeks after completing the assessment. Response times vary depending on the volume of applications and the recruiting season. If you have not heard back after 2 weeks, it is appropriate to follow up with your recruiter.

Is the Accenture digital assessment difficult?

The assessment is moderately difficult. The math is straightforward (arithmetic, percentages, and chart reading), but the situational judgment section can be tricky because multiple answers often seem reasonable. Based on reported data, 50 to 60% of candidates do not pass the aptitude screening round, so preparation gives you a meaningful advantage.

What is the passing score for the Accenture digital assessment?

Accenture does not publish an official passing score. Based on candidate reports, a score of approximately 60% or higher on the numerical section is generally sufficient to move forward. For the situational judgment section, your responses are evaluated holistically against Accenture's ideal consultant profile rather than scored as a percentage.

Does Accenture use the digital assessment for experienced hires?

Accenture primarily uses the digital assessment for entry level and graduate hires. Experienced hire processes may include different assessments or skip the online test entirely and go directly to interviews. The specific process depends on the role, level, and location. Check with your Accenture recruiter for details on your specific process.
