Accenture vs Capgemini comes down to one trade: Accenture is roughly three times bigger, pays more at nearly every consulting level, and carries more brand weight with recruiters, while Capgemini offers better hours, deeper European client relationships, and a gentler promotion clock. This guide compares revenue, salaries, interview formats, culture, and exit options at both firms using 2025 and 2026 figures so you can decide which offer to take.

Key Takeaways
Accenture wins on pay, scale, and brand, while Capgemini wins on hours, stability, and European depth, so the right answer depends on whether you optimize for career velocity or quality of life.
- Accenture reported $69.67 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue against Capgemini's 22.47 billion euros, close to a three-to-one gap
- Accenture pays more at nearly every level, and its senior ceiling runs far higher because equity is part of the package
- Capgemini Invent runs a group case with 4 to 6 candidates, a round Accenture uses only at graduate assessment centres
- Capgemini holds a 4.2 Glassdoor rating against Accenture's 3.7, though 66% of Capgemini staff sit in offshore delivery roles
- Accenture's headcount fell by about 22,000 between February and August 2025 as it retooled around AI
- Strategy work is a small slice at Capgemini, which booked just 8% of 2025 revenue from Strategy and Transformation
What Is the Difference Between Accenture and Capgemini?
Accenture is a Dublin-headquartered professional services firm with $69.67 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue and 779,000 employees, built around technology implementation at global scale. Capgemini is a Paris-headquartered technology and engineering services group with 22.47 billion euros in 2025 revenue and 423,400 employees, weighted toward European clients and engineering work. Both run small strategy arms inside much larger delivery businesses.

The scale gap matters more than most candidates expect. Accenture serves roughly 9,000 clients across more than 120 countries, which means a first-year analyst can end up on a Fortune 100 account almost anywhere in the world. Capgemini's client base skews toward European industrials, public sector bodies, and financial services firms.
How Do the Business Models Differ?
Accenture sells reinvention programs that bundle strategy, technology build, and managed operations into one multiyear contract. Capgemini sells applications and technology work as its core, with strategy consulting attached as a front end. That difference shows up in the revenue mix.
In its full-year 2025 results, Capgemini reported that Applications and Technology services made up 63% of group revenue, Operations and Engineering 29%, and Strategy and Transformation just 8%. That last figure works out to roughly 1.8 billion euros of consulting revenue across the entire group. If you join expecting a strategy career, you are joining a small business inside a very large one.
Accenture's mix is less lopsided but tilts the same direction. Its Americas region alone generated $35.1 billion in fiscal 2025, half of total revenue, and the firm employs about 10,500 senior leaders across the business. Technology work still dominates, which is why so many strategy hires end up on delivery-heavy engagements in year one.
Both firms are also pushing hard into AI. Accenture tripled generative AI revenue to $2.7 billion in fiscal 2025 and booked $5.9 billion in generative AI work, while Capgemini reported that generative and agentic AI accounted for more than 10% of group bookings in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Which Consulting Roles Should You Target at Each Firm?
This is the single most important decision in the Accenture vs Capgemini comparison, and almost every online comparison skips it. Both firms have several distinct hiring pipelines, and the one you enter determines your pay, your project mix, and your exit options far more than the logo does.
At Accenture, the hiring pipelines that matter are:
- Strategy & Consulting: the closest thing to traditional management consulting, and where an Accenture Strategy consultant sits
- Accenture Song: marketing, customer experience, and creative work, with a very different day-to-day rhythm
- Accenture Technology: systems integration, cloud, and engineering, and by far the largest hiring pipeline
- Accenture Federal Services: US public sector work that requires citizenship and often a clearance
One wrinkle to watch. Accenture now reports itself around Reinvention Services covering Cybersecurity, Digital Core, Finance, Industry and Enterprise, Song, Supply Chain and Engineering, and Talent. Recruiting language has not fully caught up, so read the job description rather than the org chart.
At Capgemini, the four brands are Capgemini Invent for strategy and transformation, Capgemini Engineering for R&D and product engineering, Sogeti for local technology delivery, and frog for design.
Invent is the only one of the four that runs a true consulting funnel, and the Capgemini Invent interview is built around business cases. The other three hire on technical and portfolio criteria.
Applicants routed into the technology pipeline usually start with a Capgemini online assessment instead of a case. That is a different bar, a different job, and a much harder path back into strategy work later.
Size the prize honestly before you apply. Capgemini describes Invent as a community of more than 10,000 people, which is a real consulting firm by any standard but a rounding error inside a 423,400-person group.
Here is the trap I see candidates fall into every recruiting season. They apply to a generic Capgemini or Accenture posting, get routed into a technology delivery role, accept it because the brand is right, and then spend two years trying to transfer internally into consulting. Apply directly to the named entity you want.
Does Accenture or Capgemini Pay More?
Accenture pays more at nearly every level above entry, and the gap grows as you move up. The table below compares the consulting tracks at each firm using 2026 Glassdoor and Levels.fyi data for the United States.

Two caveats before you anchor on these numbers. The Accenture Manager figure rests on a thin Glassdoor sample of only nine reported packages, so treat it as directional. And Accenture's entry-level floor looks lower than Capgemini's partly because it folds in non-strategy analyst titles, which is the same reason you should always read Accenture consulting salary figures by practice rather than in aggregate.
The real separation happens at the top. Accenture is publicly traded, so senior consultants receive restricted stock as part of total compensation, and reported packages stretch past $460,000. Capgemini Invent's reported ceiling on Glassdoor sits near $281,000 for a Vice President.
How Do the Accenture and Capgemini Interview Processes Differ?
Accenture runs a longer, more automated funnel with heavy screening at the front. Capgemini Invent runs a shorter funnel that ends with a group exercise. Both use business cases, but the case styles are noticeably different.
The Accenture process for consulting roles typically runs like this:
-
Online application: submitted to a specific practice, not a general pool
-
Assessments: a cognitive assessment plus a situational judgment test, often delivered through a third-party platform
-
Recorded video interview: timed behavioral responses with no live interviewer
-
Case and behavioral rounds: one to three live interviews with consultants, managers, and a Managing Director
- Assessment centre: used for graduate and early-career hiring, including a group exercise with 4 to 6 candidates
The Accenture case interview leans practical rather than abstract. Expect operational problems, technology adoption questions, and cost reduction work rather than clean market-entry puzzles. Interviewers care as much about how you would actually implement your recommendation as about the structure you built to reach it.
Capgemini Invent compresses the process into three or four stages. A 30-minute recruiter screen comes first, then one or more individual case interviews running 30 to 45 minutes, then the group case.
The Capgemini case interview favors practical prompts over abstract strategy puzzles. Expect profitability, cost reduction, and digital transformation problems pulled from live client work.
Capgemini's own graduate careers page describes a guided 45-minute case in which you solve a business problem in real time. It even publishes a sample prompt about an automotive client deciding its position in electric and self-driving vehicles, including the North American market size.
That group round is the part candidates underestimate. Four to six applicants receive a shared pack of materials, read individually for about 10 minutes, then discuss and present as a team for roughly half an hour. Strong solo case performers lose offers here by either dominating the discussion or disappearing into it, which is why practicing the group case interview format separately matters so much.
Case interviews decide most of these outcomes. If you want to learn case interviews quickly, my case interview course walks you through proven strategies in as little as 7 days.
Which Firm Is Harder to Get Into?
Capgemini Invent rates marginally harder on candidate-reported difficulty, but the two are close enough that the difference comes down to format rather than selectivity. Neither firm screens as aggressively as MBB.

Read those difficulty scores carefully. Both are dragged toward the middle by tens of thousands of technology and operations submissions, so the number understates what a strategy candidate faces. A candidate targeting Strategy and Consulting at Accenture is competing against a much sharper pool than the firmwide Accenture acceptance rate suggests.
Timelines are the more useful signal here. A 26-to-29 day median means you should expect roughly a month between application and decision at either firm, which is fast enough that you can realistically run both processes in parallel during the same recruiting cycle.
What Is the Culture and Work-Life Balance Like at Each Firm?
Capgemini scores higher on employee satisfaction, holding a 4.2 out of 5 Glassdoor rating from more than 89,000 reviews with 87% of employees recommending it to a friend. Accenture sits at 3.7 out of 5 from over 178,000 reviews with 72% recommending it, a rating that slipped by about 1% over the past year.
Those headline scores need a caveat that almost nobody applies. Capgemini's offshore workforce reached 279,200 people at the end of 2025, or 66% of total headcount, and delivery-centre roles tend to rate work-life balance far more generously than client-facing consulting roles do. Compare Capgemini Invent to Accenture Strategy and the gap narrows considerably.
On the ground, the cultural difference is real. Accenture runs a faster performance clock, more visible internal competition, and a stronger expectation that you will chase your next staffing yourself. The Accenture culture rewards people who market themselves internally.
Capgemini is flatter, more consensus-driven, and slower to promote. Employees averaged 97 completed learning hours in 2025 against a stated target of 70, which tells you something about how the firm invests in people. It also reached 40.5% women in the global workforce that year.
Job security is the newer variable. Accenture's headcount fell from 801,099 in February 2025 to 779,273 by the end of August 2025, and the firm booked $865 million in business optimization costs. CEO Julie Sweet told analysts that upskilling was the primary approach but that employees who could not be retrained for AI work were being exited on a compressed timeline.
The rebound matters as much as the cut. Accenture reported approximately 799,000 people as of its third quarter of fiscal 2026, which means it hired back everything it shed and more within a year. Capgemini, meanwhile, has flagged about 700 million euros of restructuring costs over two years under its own workforce adaptation program.
What Are the Exit Opportunities from Accenture vs Capgemini?
Accenture travels better. The brand is recognized by every corporate recruiter in North America, Europe, and Asia, and the firm's Fortune Global 100 client roster means your project list reads well on a resume regardless of what you actually did. Having coached hundreds of candidates through post-consulting moves, I see Accenture alumni land internal strategy, corporate development, and product roles most often.
Capgemini exits skew regional and functional. Alumni move most often into industry roles at the clients they served, especially European manufacturers, banks, and public sector bodies, and into technology program leadership. The engineering side of the house feeds product and R&D roles that a pure strategy background rarely opens.
Neither firm sends people to private equity or hedge funds at anything close to MBB rates. If buy-side finance is your goal, the honest answer is that both of these firms are a detour rather than a route, and you should read up on consulting exit opportunities before you accept either offer.
The lateral move between the two is easier than most candidates think. Capgemini Invent to Accenture Strategy happens regularly at the Consultant and Senior Consultant levels, usually with a pay bump. The reverse move is less common and typically involves a title upgrade as compensation for the pay cut.
Which Firm Should You Choose?
There are four candidate profiles where the answer is clear, and one where it genuinely depends on the offer in front of you.
Choose Accenture if you want pay and optionality
Accenture pays more at every level past entry, carries a stronger brand outside Europe, and offers more internal mobility across practices and geographies. If you are early in your career and want maximum future flexibility, take the Accenture offer. The Accenture career path also gives you a clearer promotion ladder to point at.
Choose Capgemini if you want sustainable hours
Capgemini's higher satisfaction scores are not an accident. If you have a family, a side commitment, or simply refuse to work MBB hours for non-MBB pay, Capgemini Invent gives you client-facing consulting work at a more livable pace.
Choose Capgemini if your career is European
France accounts for 19% of Capgemini revenue and Rest of Europe another 30%, so the firm's relationships in Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, and the Nordics run deeper than Accenture's in many industrial sectors. In those markets the prestige gap narrows sharply.
Choose Accenture if you want technology at scale
With 77,000 AI and data professionals as of 2025, up from 40,000 two years earlier, Accenture puts more capital behind emerging technology practices than Capgemini can. For a candidate who wants to build an AI or cloud specialty, that investment translates into better projects.
Compare the actual offers if you are undecided
Where both offers are in hand, ignore the firm and compare the specific practice, the office, and the partner who would staff you. A strong Capgemini Invent public sector team in London beats a weak Accenture Technology team in a secondary city every time.
Deciding between Accenture vs Capgemini is ultimately a question about what you want your next three years to buy you: higher pay and a bigger brand, or steadier hours and deeper client relationships. Whichever way you lean, the offer only exists if you clear the case rounds first, so start practicing cases the week you submit your application rather than the week before your first interview.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Accenture better than Capgemini?
Accenture is better on pay, brand recognition, and the size of its senior compensation ceiling. Capgemini is better on hours, job stability at the junior levels, and engineering depth. For a consulting career in the United States, Accenture Strategy and Consulting opens more doors. For a career based in continental Europe, especially in France, Germany, or the Nordics, Capgemini Invent competes closely.
Does Accenture pay more than Capgemini?
Yes, at nearly every level above entry. Glassdoor puts the average Accenture Strategy Consultant package at about $152,000 in 2026 against roughly $140,000 for a Capgemini Invent Consultant. The gap widens sharply at the top, where Levels.fyi reports Accenture packages reaching $467,000 for Senior Executive while Glassdoor caps Capgemini Invent Vice President pay near $281,000.
Is it harder to get into Accenture or Capgemini?
Capgemini Invent rates slightly harder. Glassdoor candidates score Capgemini Invent interviews at 2.88 out of 5 for difficulty in 2026 against 2.76 out of 5 for Accenture across all roles. The practical difference is the group case round at Capgemini Invent, which trips up candidates who have only practiced one-on-one cases.
Is Capgemini Invent as good as Accenture Strategy?
Not in the United States, where Accenture Strategy has more brand weight with recruiters and more post-consulting mobility. In Europe the two are far closer, and Capgemini Invent wins on client access in France and Germany. Keep in mind that Capgemini's Strategy and Transformation business was only 8% of group revenue in 2025, so pure strategy work is a small slice of the firm.
Which has better work-life balance, Accenture or Capgemini?
Capgemini, by a clear margin at the junior levels. Capgemini holds a 4.2 out of 5 Glassdoor rating from more than 89,000 reviews with 87% of employees recommending it, against 3.7 out of 5 and 72% for Accenture. Note that both scores are shaped heavily by offshore delivery staff, who made up 66% of Capgemini headcount at the end of 2025.
Is Capgemini a tier 2 consulting firm?
Capgemini Invent sits at the edge of tier 2 consulting firms, alongside the Big 4 strategy arms, while the wider Capgemini group is best understood as a technology and engineering services firm. Accenture occupies a similar position, with Accenture Strategy competing for tier 2 work and the rest of the firm competing on implementation. Neither firm recruits like an MBB firm or prices like one.
