Key Takeaways

Capgemini pays below Accenture and Deloitte at almost every consulting level, but the Capgemini Invent brand closes most of that gap for strategy and transformation roles.

  • Median total compensation for a Capgemini management consultant in the US is $103,000, per Levels.fyi 2026 data

  • The grade ladder runs B1, B2, C1, C2, then the D and E grades, and pay roughly quadruples from B1 to E2

  • Capgemini Invent, not "Capgemini Consulting," is the strategy arm today, and its Consultant title averages $132,000 in base pay

  • US Department of Labor filings show a median base of $130,000 for Capgemini America sponsored roles in fiscal 2025

  • Base bands are rigid by grade, so the signing bonus and your starting grade are where negotiation actually pays off

What Is the Average Capgemini Consulting Salary?

The average Capgemini consulting salary in the United States is about $103,000 in total compensation at the median, according to Levels.fyi data current as of August 2026. Individual grades range from $83,600 at Associate Consultant to $326,633 at the top reported executive grade. Base salary makes up nearly all of that number below the senior levels.

You will see wildly different figures depending on which site you check, and the spread confuses a lot of candidates. Glassdoor reports an average total pay of $127,316 for a Capgemini Consultant based on 1,627 salary submissions as of August 2026. ZipRecruiter puts the same title at $103,425 as of August 21, 2026.

The gap is not a data error. It reflects who is answering. Glassdoor skews toward senior US-based respondents who self-select into salary surveys, while ZipRecruiter pulls from job postings that include lower-paid delivery and technology consultant roles.

Here is the rule I give every candidate I coach: use Levels.fyi grade data to set your expectation and Glassdoor ranges to set your negotiating ceiling. Anything that quotes a single "average Capgemini salary" without naming a grade is close to useless, because Capgemini employs over 417,000 people across dozens of very different job families.

What Does Capgemini Pay at Each Consulting Grade?

Capgemini runs a letter-and-number grade system rather than the title-only ladders used at most consulting firms. Your grade, not your business card title, determines your salary band. The table below shows median total compensation at each reported management consultant grade in the United States.

Three things jump out of that table. First, bonuses at the B and C grades are almost decorative, running between zero and roughly 4% of base. That is a sharp contrast with Big 4 and MBB firms, where the bonus is a meaningful slice of junior pay.

Second, the jump from C2 to D1 is the single biggest step on the ladder, worth about $58,000. Capgemini concentrates its money at the point where you start owning client relationships and selling work.

Third, Levels.fyi does not publish title labels for every grade above C2. Glassdoor and Indeed both report Director, Senior Director, and Vice President titles at Capgemini, and those roles map to the D and E grades. Indeed puts the average Capgemini Director at $185,150 and Vice President at $283,203, which lines up closely with the Levels.fyi grade figures.

Is Capgemini Consulting the Same as Capgemini Invent?

No, and this is the single most important thing to understand before you compare any Capgemini salary numbers. Capgemini Consulting no longer exists as a brand. Capgemini retired it on September 12, 2018 and folded the team into a new global business line called Capgemini Invent.

The launch announcement describes Capgemini Invent as combining the old Capgemini Consulting team with data science capability from the wider group plus three acquired design agencies and two acquired consultancies. It started with more than 6,000 people across 30-plus offices.

Why does this matter for your paycheck? Because "consultant" at core Capgemini and "consultant" at Capgemini Invent are two different jobs at two different pay points.

The core Capgemini consultant is often a technology or package implementation role. The Invent consultant is a strategy and transformation role competing head-on with Big 4 strategy practices for talent.

Salary sites almost never make this distinction, which is exactly why the reported averages swing by $40,000 or more. If you are targeting the strategy side, the Capgemini Invent interview process is the one you should be preparing for, and the Invent pay bands are the ones you should be quoting in a negotiation.

How Much Does Capgemini Invent Pay by Title?

Capgemini Invent pays roughly 25% to 40% more than core Capgemini at equivalent titles. Glassdoor reports Capgemini Invent salaries spanning $100,300 for an Associate Consultant up to $280,808 for a Vice President, based on 1,005 salary submissions in the United States as of July 2026.

Notice that a Capgemini Invent Consultant at $132,000 base earns more than a core Capgemini Managing Consultant at $129,000. Two grades of seniority evaporate the moment you cross brands. I have seen candidates accept a core Capgemini offer without realizing an Invent role existed in the same city.

The trade-off is that Invent hires far fewer people and screens harder. Expect a case interview, which most core Capgemini technology roles skip entirely. If you want to get sharp on cases fast, my case interview course takes you from beginner to top 10% candidate in about seven days.

What Is the Entry-Level Capgemini Consulting Salary?

Entry-level Capgemini consulting salary for undergraduate hires is about $83,600 in total compensation at the B1 Associate Consultant grade, made up of roughly $83,100 in base and a token bonus. Indeed reports a similar figure of $84,568 for the Associate Consultant title. At Capgemini Invent, the same starting title reaches $100,300 and above.

That is a wide starting spread for what looks like the same job, and it comes down to brand and practice. A federal or public sector role through Capgemini Government Solutions sits at the low end. A Capgemini Invent strategy role in New York sits at the high end.

Interns are paid hourly rather than on the grade ladder, and a Capgemini internship pays anywhere from about $17 to $55 per hour depending on the business unit and city. Converting a summer internship into a full-time offer is still the cleanest path into the firm.

One thing worth planning around: Capgemini does not run the standardized campus salary bands you see at MBB, where every undergraduate hire in a given year gets an identical number. Two Associate Consultants starting the same week in the same office can be $10,000 apart. That means your negotiation actually matters at entry level, which is rarely true at larger firms.

How Does Capgemini Consulting Salary Compare to Other Firms?

Capgemini sits at the bottom of the major consulting employers on pay. Its median management consultant package of $103,000 is roughly 26% below Deloitte and 47% below Accenture, and about a third of what a McKinsey consultant earns at the median.

The gap narrows once you control for brand. A Capgemini Invent Senior Consultant at $145,000 base is competitive with Big 4 strategy pay at the same tenure, and the Accenture consulting salary advantage largely disappears at that level.

Where the gap never closes is at the top. MBB salaries at partner level clear $1 million, while Capgemini's highest reported consulting package is $326,633. If lifetime earnings are your primary filter, that ceiling difference should weigh more heavily than the starting number.

Capgemini is best understood as a large technology-led firm with a strategy boutique attached, not as a pure strategy house. Candidates who benchmark it against tier 2 consulting firms like Oliver Wyman or Kearney usually come away disappointed on comp and pleasantly surprised on hours.

What Do Government Salary Filings Show About Capgemini Pay?

US Department of Labor filings give you the one Capgemini salary data set that nobody can inflate. Every H-1B petition requires the employer to disclose the exact base salary in a Labor Condition Application, and those filings are public. For Capgemini America in fiscal year 2025, the median disclosed base salary was $130,000.

Read that table carefully, because it is easy to misuse. Sponsored roles skew toward experienced technology and delivery hires rather than campus recruits, so the $130,000 median runs above the $103,000 Levels.fyi figure. It is a ceiling reference, not a starting point.

What makes it useful is precision. These are legally attested numbers with no self-reporting bias, and the 90th percentile of $156,550 tells you where Capgemini stops paying for individual contributor work. Anything above that in a US offer almost certainly includes people-management or sales responsibility.

Candidates who need consulting visa sponsorship should also know that Capgemini America is one of the ten largest H-1B filers in the country, with an approval rate above 95%.

How Does Capgemini Structure Bonuses and Total Compensation?

Capgemini total compensation has three components: base salary, an annual performance bonus, and employee share ownership. Base dominates at every level below director. Unlike most US consultancies, Capgemini also runs a large employee share plan, and its full-year 2025 results note that employee shareholding sits at around 8% of share capital.

The bonus is where Capgemini differs most from its peers, and the gap opens at the senior end rather than the junior end. At the C1 grade the median reported bonus is $4,400, and at C2 it actually falls to $3,100. Both sit under 4% of base.

Compare that with Deloitte, where Levels.fyi reports a Manager bonus of $28,200 against a $191,000 base, or roughly 15%. Even at entry level the gap shows, since a McKinsey Business Analyst carries a $10,800 bonus on $110,000 in base.

A consulting bonus structure normally pays you far more for stepping into project leadership, and Capgemini's does that less than its competitors do. Your offer is therefore more predictable and less performance-linked than a Big 4 or MBB offer at the same headline number. You give up upside, and you give up very little downside.

Signing bonuses exist but are not standardized. Levels.fyi describes Capgemini signing bonuses as one-time payments that vary by level and negotiation, separate from the recurring annual bonus. In practice this makes the consulting signing bonus the most flexible number in the entire package.

Here is the context that should shape your 2026 negotiation. Capgemini announced a cost program it calls Fit-for-Growth in February 2026, carrying roughly 700 million euros of restructuring charges over two years.

Its H1 2026 results confirmed those charges pushed operating profit down to 7.3% of revenues from 8.8% a year earlier. A firm in the middle of a cost program does not hand out base salary exceptions. It does hand out one-time cash.

Does Location Change Your Capgemini Consulting Salary?

Location moves Capgemini consulting pay by roughly 15% to 25% between low-cost and high-cost US markets. Levels.fyi reports a median management consultant package of $172,000 in the New York City area, well above the $103,000 national median, with C1 entry sitting at $119,085 in that market.

New York, San Francisco, and Chicago carry the highest bands. Government-facing roles in the Washington DC metro area and delivery-heavy offices in the South pay materially less for identical grades.

North America is also Capgemini's strongest region on profitability, generating 6,371 million euros in 2025 revenue at a 16.9% operating margin against a 13.3% group average. That matters because regional margin is what funds local salary bands, and it is a fair argument to raise if you are choosing which Capgemini office to target.

One caution on remote roles. Capgemini's onshore headcount fell to 141,800 by June 30, 2026, and offshore staff now hold 66% of the total workforce. Roles that can be delivered from anywhere are under the most pricing pressure, so anchor yourself to client-facing work in a major US market.

How Do You Negotiate a Higher Capgemini Consulting Offer?

Negotiating at Capgemini works differently than at MBB or Big 4 firms, where campus bands are fixed and recruiters have almost no discretion. Capgemini grades set a band, but placement within that band and the grade itself are both live. Five tactics do the heavy lifting.

Tip #1: Negotiate your grade before you negotiate your salary

Moving from B2 to C1 is worth about $25,500 in total compensation. No amount of haggling inside the B2 band gets you close to that. Make the case for the higher grade using years of relevant experience and scope of prior work, and do it before an offer letter is drafted.

Tip #2: Push on the signing bonus, not the base

Base bands at Capgemini are set centrally by grade and geography, and recruiters genuinely cannot move them much. Signing bonuses come from a different budget with far more discretion. With a restructuring program running through 2026, one-time cash is an easier internal approval than a permanent salary exception.

Tip #3: Apply to Capgemini Invent, not just Capgemini

The same person with the same background can earn $132,000 base at Invent or $95,500 at core Capgemini. Search both careers portals separately, since Invent roles often do not surface in a general Capgemini job search. No other move on this list is worth as much.

Tip #4: Bring a competing offer with a real number

Capgemini benchmarks against Accenture and the Big 4, so a written offer from any of them shifts the conversation immediately. Getting to that point starts with applications that clear screening, and my resume review service gets your resume through the automated filters that reject most consulting applicants.

Tip #5: Ask about the promotion clock, not just the number

The C2 to D1 jump is worth roughly $58,000, far more than anything you will win at the offer table. Ask directly how many years typically separate your entry grade from D1 in your specific practice, and get the answer from your future manager rather than the recruiter.

The honest summary is that a Capgemini consulting salary buys you stability, reasonable hours, and a genuine strategy track through Invent, but not top-of-market cash. If money is the deciding factor, benchmark your Capgemini offer against Accenture and Deloitte before you sign, because the same experience is worth 26% to 47% more at those firms and the consulting exit opportunities a few years out are stronger too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Capgemini consultant make in the United States?

A Capgemini consultant at the B2 grade earns a median total compensation of $95,500 per year according to Levels.fyi 2026 data. Glassdoor puts the average total pay for a Capgemini Consultant higher at $127,316 based on 1,627 salary reports as of August 2026, because that figure blends senior technology and delivery consultants into the same title. Across all management consultant grades, the Levels.fyi median is $103,000.

Is Capgemini Consulting the same as Capgemini Invent?

No. Capgemini retired the Capgemini Consulting brand in September 2018 and folded that team into a new global business line called Capgemini Invent. If you are researching strategy and transformation consulting pay at Capgemini today, Capgemini Invent is the unit you want, and it pays meaningfully more than core Capgemini technology consulting roles.

Does Capgemini pay a signing bonus?

Capgemini pays signing bonuses, but they are smaller and far less standardized than at MBB or Big 4 firms. Levels.fyi describes signing bonuses at Capgemini as one-time payments that vary by level and negotiation and sit separate from the recurring annual bonus. Treat the signing bonus as the single most negotiable line item in a Capgemini offer, since base bands are tightly controlled by grade.

How much does a senior consultant make at Capgemini?

A Senior Consultant at Capgemini sits at the C1 grade and earns a median total compensation of $121,000, made up of roughly $116,000 in base salary and $4,400 in bonus, according to Levels.fyi. At Capgemini Invent, the same title pays more, with Glassdoor reporting an average base of $145,000 and a typical total range of $132,000 to $181,000.

Does Capgemini pay less than Accenture and Deloitte?

Yes. Levels.fyi 2026 data shows a median management consultant total package of $103,000 at Capgemini, compared with $130,000 at Deloitte and $151,200 at Accenture. That puts Capgemini roughly 26 percent below Deloitte and 47 percent below Accenture at the median, though Capgemini Invent offers close much of that gap at the senior consultant level and above.

What is the highest paying consulting role at Capgemini?

The highest reported consulting package at Capgemini is a Management Consultant at the E2 grade, at $326,633 in yearly total compensation according to Levels.fyi.
