Consulting Salary Singapore: Pay by Firm and Level

Consulting salary Singapore figures run from roughly SGD 90,000 in total compensation for entry-level strategy hires to over SGD 500,000 for partners, with Big 4 consulting arms starting closer to SGD 55,000 and tier 2 firms landing in between. Most salary sites get this badly wrong because they average in every job with the word consultant in the title, so this guide gives you the real numbers by firm, by level, and after tax.

Key Takeaways
Strategy consulting in Singapore pays between SGD 90,000 and SGD 130,000 at the entry level and clears SGD 500,000 at partner, while general salary aggregators badly understate the market by mixing in unrelated roles.
- Levels.fyi Singapore data from 2026 puts median total compensation at SGD 218,000 for McKinsey, SGD 239,000 for BCG, and SGD 235,000 for Bain
- Big 4 consulting pays roughly half of MBB at the same level, with Deloitte Consultants in Singapore reporting a median of SGD 64,000 on Glassdoor as of July 2025
- Foreign consultants on an Employment Pass skip CPF entirely, which is worth about SGD 19,200 a year in extra cash versus a local peer
- Singapore income tax is low: SGD 120,000 of chargeable income attracts SGD 7,950 in tax under the current IRAS resident schedule
- Reported Singapore figures vary far more than US figures because sample sizes are small, so treat any single number as a range
- The biggest pay jump is the post-MBA step, where total compensation roughly doubles overnight
What Is the Average Consulting Salary in Singapore?
Consulting salaries in Singapore split into three tiers. Strategy firms pay entry-level hires roughly SGD 90,000 to SGD 130,000 in total compensation, tier 2 firms pay SGD 75,000 to SGD 110,000, and Big 4 consulting arms start near SGD 55,000 to SGD 75,000. Partners across all three tiers clear SGD 500,000.
Here is the part almost nobody tells you. If you search for the average consultant salary in Singapore, you will see a figure around SGD 4,142 per month, which Indeed reported in December 2025 based on 138 submissions. That number is close to useless for anyone recruiting into strategy consulting.
The reason is job title pooling. Aggregators count beauty consultants, recruitment consultants, insurance consultants, and IT support consultants in the same bucket as a management consultant at an MBB firm. Those roles pay a fraction of what a strategy consultant earns, so the average collapses.
Use firm-level and level-level data instead. The table below shows where each tier actually sits.

Figures blend 2025 and 2026 reporting from Glassdoor and Levels.fyi for the Singapore market. Tier 2 and Big 4 partner bands are the thinnest data of the group, so treat those two cells as directional.
What Do MBB Consultants Earn in Singapore?
McKinsey, BCG, and Bain pay within a few percent of each other at every level in Singapore, exactly as they do everywhere else. Median total compensation across all management consulting levels sits at SGD 218,000 for McKinsey, SGD 239,000 for BCG, and SGD 235,000 for Bain according to Levels.fyi Singapore data from 2026.

Why do reported MBB Singapore salaries disagree so much?
Because the sample sizes are tiny. Levels.fyi built its McKinsey Singapore management consultant profile from 12 submissions and its Bain Singapore profile from 17. A single senior submission moves the median by tens of thousands of dollars.
Glassdoor tells a different story at the same levels. Its Singapore consultant page, updated in November 2025, lists BCG Consultants at SGD 145,000 to SGD 197,000 with a median of SGD 167,000, which is meaningfully above the Levels.fyi figure for the same title.
Three things explain most gaps: some sources report base only while others report total, some report monthly while others report annual, and job titles carry different seniority across firms. A BCG Consultant is a post-MBA hire, while a Deloitte Consultant is often two years out of university. Never compare titles across firms without checking the entry point.
Office-level hiring detail matters too, since headcount and practice mix drive how quickly you move up the pay ladder. BCG Singapore runs a roughly 170-person office with a heavy Southeast Asia mandate, which is a different promotion market from a US office with ten times the analyst pool.
What Do Big 4 and Tier 2 Consultants Earn in Singapore?
Big 4 consulting arms in Singapore pay roughly half of MBB at the same career stage. Glassdoor data from July 2025, drawn from 233 submissions, puts the median Deloitte Consultant in Singapore at SGD 64,000 in total pay, with base at SGD 60,000 and a median bonus of SGD 7,000. Senior Consultants median SGD 84,000 across 140 submissions.
That gap is real and it persists. The trade-off is a wider door: Big 4 practices in Singapore hire far more people each cycle and take a broader range of backgrounds. If you are weighing the two paths, the Big 4 consulting salary ladder starts lower but climbs steadily once you reach manager.
Tier 2 strategy firms sit closer to MBB than to the Big 4. Oliver Wyman has the best-sampled Singapore dataset of the group, with 205 Glassdoor submissions as of July 2026.

The Oliver Wyman salary ladder trips up more candidates than any other in the industry for exactly this reason.
Accenture sits in its own band. Glassdoor put the median Accenture Strategy Consultant in Singapore at SGD 106,000 in total pay as of July 2025, while Levels.fyi reports a median Consultant package of roughly SGD 101,600 for the Singapore market in 2026.
How Does Consulting Pay in Singapore Progress by Level?
Consulting pay in Singapore roughly doubles at two points in the ladder. The first is the post-MBA jump from analyst to consultant, and the second is the step from manager to principal. Everything between those two moves is incremental.
Here is what the full progression looks like at a strategy firm.

Profit share tied to book of business |
Two details matter more than the raw bands. Promotions come every two to three years for consultants who hit their ratings, so the consulting promotion timeline drives your earnings far more than any annual raise does. Staying flat at one level for four years costs you more than a weak bonus year ever will.
The second is that Singapore offices are regional hubs, which changes the math above principal. Partners in Singapore often carry Southeast Asia mandates across multiple markets, and profit share reflects the book they build rather than a local band.
What Bonuses and Benefits Come With a Singapore Consulting Offer?
Base salary is between 70 and 85 percent of a Singapore consulting package. The rest comes from a performance bonus, a signing bonus for degree-track hires, and a set of benefits that are easy to undervalue when you compare two offers side by side.
The main components break down like this.
- Performance bonus: typically 15 to 40 percent of base at strategy firms, paid annually and tied to your rating, with Levels.fyi showing bonuses of SGD 29,000 to SGD 30,700 at the consultant level in Singapore in 2026
- Signing bonus: reportedly around SGD 15,000 for undergraduate associates at BCG Singapore, and larger for MBA hires
- Annual Wage Supplement: a Singapore convention often called the 13th month payment, which some Big 4 and local employers include but most strategy firms fold into the performance bonus instead
- Paid leave: 20 or more days at strategy firms in Singapore, above the statutory minimum
- Retirement and health: employer CPF contributions for citizens and permanent residents, plus private medical coverage for everyone
Ask about the Annual Wage Supplement specifically. In my experience coaching candidates through Asia-Pacific offers, this is the single most common source of confusion, because a Big 4 offer quoted as a monthly figure may include a 13th month that a quoted annual figure from a strategy firm already absorbs. The mechanics of a consulting bonus structure vary enough that two offers with identical headline numbers can differ by 10 percent in cash.
How Much of a Singapore Consulting Salary Do You Keep After Tax and CPF?
More than almost anywhere else, and this is the part that changes the comparison against London and New York. Singapore taxes resident employment income progressively from 0 to 24 percent, with the first SGD 20,000 of chargeable income taxed at zero.
Here is what the IRAS resident schedule produces at consulting income levels.

Tax payable figures come directly from the IRAS resident rate table for Year of Assessment 2024 onwards. Effective rates are calculated before any personal reliefs, so your real number will be lower.
Why foreign consultants take home more than local peers
The Central Provident Fund only applies to Singapore citizens and permanent residents. Employees under age 55 contribute 20 percent of ordinary wages and employers add 17 percent, both capped at an ordinary wage ceiling of SGD 8,000 per month in 2026. Employment Pass holders are excluded entirely.
Run the numbers on a SGD 120,000 package. A citizen or permanent resident contributes SGD 1,600 a month at the ceiling, which is SGD 19,200 a year redirected into CPF accounts. A foreign consultant on the identical offer receives that SGD 19,200 as cash.
That money is not lost for locals. CPF funds housing, healthcare, and retirement, and it comes with an employer contribution that foreigners never receive. But if you are comparing take-home pay on two offers, the difference is large enough that you should model it explicitly rather than assume the packages are equivalent.
What Salary Do You Need for a Singapore Work Visa?
Every strategy consulting offer in Singapore clears the visa threshold comfortably, but you should know where the floor sits. The Ministry of Manpower sets the Employment Pass qualifying salary at SGD 5,600 per month for applicants aged 23 and below in all sectors except financial services, rising with age to SGD 10,700 at age 45 and above.
Financial services runs higher, from SGD 6,200 to SGD 11,800. Both floors increase on 1 January 2027, to SGD 6,000 and SGD 6,600 respectively at the entry age band, according to the Ministry of Manpower.
Three thresholds matter to a consultant planning a move.
-
Employment Pass: SGD 5,600 per month minimum, plus a passing score of 40 points on the COMPASS framework
-
Dependant's Pass: you need a fixed monthly salary of at least SGD 6,000 to bring a spouse or children under 21
- Overseas Networks and Expertise Pass: SGD 30,000 per month, which in consulting terms means partner level
An entry-level strategy offer of SGD 90,000 to SGD 110,000 works out to roughly SGD 7,500 to SGD 9,200 per month, so the Employment Pass floor is never the binding constraint. The Dependant's Pass threshold is the one that catches people, because a Big 4 analyst offer near SGD 60,000 a year does not reach SGD 6,000 a month. If you are recruiting from abroad, the same visa arithmetic that shapes consulting recruiting for international students applies here.
How Does Singapore Consulting Pay Compare to the US and UK?
Singapore pays less than the United States in nominal terms and keeps more of it after tax. US offices publish a base salary of 112,000 US dollars for undergraduate MBB hires and 192,000 US dollars for MBA hires, which sits above the Singapore equivalent once you convert.
The gap narrows on three fronts. Singapore has no capital gains tax and no tax on dividends, effective income tax rates stay in single digits until you pass SGD 150,000 of chargeable income, and foreign consultants skip CPF. A US consultant at the same level faces federal, state, and payroll taxes that can exceed 30 percent combined.
Career reasons usually outweigh the cash difference anyway. Singapore offices staff across Southeast Asia, so you build a regional network and industry exposure that a domestic US office cannot offer. Candidates comparing offices should look at MBB salaries across geographies alongside the practice mix and the partners they would work under.
One more benchmark puts Singapore consulting pay in local context. The Ministry of Manpower reported a median gross monthly income of SGD 5,775 for full-time employed residents in mid-2025, and fresh university graduates earned a median of SGD 4,500 per month that year. An entry-level strategy consultant clears both by a wide margin in year one.
How Do You Increase Your Consulting Salary in Singapore?
You have less control over entry-level pay than you think and far more control over what happens in years three through eight. Entry bands are fixed across an incoming class, so the real levers are which firm you join, how fast you get promoted, and whether you use an outside offer at the right moment.
Tip #1: Target the tier, not the offer
The single largest determinant of your Singapore consulting salary is the tier of firm you join. An MBB offer pays roughly double a Big 4 offer at the same level, and that gap compounds every year you stay.
Preparation is what closes that gap, not luck. Case interviews are the gate at every strategy firm in Singapore, and if you want to learn them quickly, my case interview course walks you through proven strategies in as little as 7 days.
Tip #2: Use the MBA step deliberately
The post-MBA jump is the biggest single pay increase in the career. Total compensation moves from roughly SGD 90,000 to SGD 130,000 at the analyst level to SGD 200,000 to SGD 260,000 at the consultant level, close to a doubling.
Firms sponsor high performers through business school and rehire them at the consultant band, which means your MBA consulting salary is often paid for by the firm you already work at. Ask about sponsorship in your first year, not your third.
Tip #3: Negotiate the components you can actually move
Base salary at the entry level is almost never negotiable at a strategy firm, because bands are set class-wide. What does move is the signing bonus, relocation support, and start date.
Experienced hires have far more room, especially those coming in above the analyst band. Knowing how to negotiate a consulting offer is worth more at the manager level than at any other point in your career.
Tip #4: Protect your rating in year one
Your bonus and your promotion speed both key off the same performance rating. A single weak review cycle can push a promotion back a full year, which costs far more than the bonus difference itself.
Pick staffing carefully in your first two cases. Visible work with a partner who will advocate for you at the review committee is worth more than a technically interesting project nobody senior sees.
Tip #5: Understand what you can exit into
Singapore is a regional headquarters for private equity, technology, and multinational corporate strategy, which makes the exit market unusually deep for a city its size. Many consultants take a pay increase on exit rather than a cut.
Two to three years at a strategy firm in Singapore opens doors across Southeast Asia that a purely local career path does not, and the consulting exit opportunities available from a Singapore office skew toward regional roles with broader scope. Your consulting salary Singapore trajectory is ultimately a function of which tier you enter and how fast you climb, so the highest-return action you can take right now is preparing hard enough to land the strongest offer available to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do consultants make in Singapore?
Strategy consultants in Singapore earn roughly SGD 90,000 to SGD 130,000 in total compensation at the entry level and SGD 200,000 to SGD 260,000 after an MBA. Levels.fyi Singapore data from 2026 puts median total compensation across all management consulting levels at SGD 218,000 for McKinsey, SGD 239,000 for BCG, and SGD 235,000 for Bain. Big 4 consulting arms pay considerably less, with Glassdoor reporting a median of SGD 64,000 for Deloitte Consultants in Singapore as of July 2025.
Why do salary sites show the average Singapore consultant salary as only SGD 4,000 per month?
General salary aggregators pool every job with the word consultant in the title. That includes beauty consultants, recruitment consultants, and insurance consultants, which pulls the average down to around SGD 4,142 per month on Indeed as of December 2025. Management consulting at a strategy firm is a different market and pays two to four times that figure at the same level of experience.
Is a Singapore consulting salary enough to live on?
Yes. The Ministry of Manpower reported a median gross monthly income of SGD 5,775 for full-time employed residents in mid-2025, and fresh university graduates earned a median of SGD 4,500 per month in 2025. An entry-level strategy consulting package of SGD 90,000 to SGD 110,000 per year works out to roughly SGD 7,500 to SGD 9,200 per month, well above both benchmarks.
Do foreigners pay CPF on a Singapore consulting salary?
No. Employment Pass holders and other foreign work pass holders are excluded from the Central Provident Fund. Singapore citizens and permanent residents under age 55 contribute 20 percent of ordinary wages up to a monthly ceiling of SGD 8,000 in 2026, which is about SGD 19,200 per year. A foreign consultant on the same package receives that amount as cash instead.
What is the minimum salary to get an Employment Pass in Singapore?
The Ministry of Manpower sets the Employment Pass qualifying salary at SGD 5,600 per month for applicants aged 23 and below in all sectors except financial services, rising with age to SGD 10,700 at age 45 and above. Financial services runs from SGD 6,200 to SGD 11,800. From 1 January 2027 the general sector floor rises to SGD 6,000. Every strategy consulting offer clears these thresholds comfortably.
Does Singapore consulting pay more than London or New York?
Not in nominal terms. US MBB offices pay a published base of 112,000 US dollars for undergraduate hires and 192,000 US dollars for MBA hires, which is higher than Singapore base pay once converted. Singapore closes part of that gap through low income tax, with an effective rate of about 6.6 percent on SGD 120,000 of chargeable income under the IRAS resident schedule.
How fast does consulting salary grow in Singapore?
Pay roughly doubles between the undergraduate entry level and the post-MBA consultant level, and doubles again by principal. Levels.fyi Singapore data from 2026 shows BCG moving from about SGD 73,500 at associate to SGD 318,000 at principal. Promotions arrive every two to three years for consultants who hit their ratings, so most of the increase comes from moving up rather than from annual raises.
