BCG Launch: Complete Guide and How to Get the Most Out of It
Author: Taylor Warfield, Former Bain Manager and interviewer
Last Updated: March 23, 2026

BCG Launch is a free virtual series that gives undergraduate and non-MBA master's students a behind-the-scenes look at consulting careers at Boston Consulting Group. The program runs multiple times per year and features live sessions on everything from daily life as a BCG Associate to case interview prep and resume workshops.
If you are considering registering for BCG Launch, this guide covers everything you need to know. You will learn what each session includes, how to register, key dates, eligibility requirements, and practical tips to get the most out of the program.
But first, a quick heads up:
McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and other top firms accept less than 1% of applicants every year. If you want to triple your chances of landing interviews and 8x your chances of passing them, watch my free 40-minute training.
What Changed in 2026?
BCG restructured its Launch program for 2026. The spring series now runs from March 2 through April 20, with sessions hosted on Monday evenings via Zoom. BCG added dedicated workshops for resume building, case interview math, and a recruiting overview session that were not part of previous series.
The registration process also changed. Students now RSVP through BCG's Eightfold platform and only need to register once for access to all sessions. The portal stays open until May 29, 2026, so you can watch recordings even after live sessions end.
What Is BCG Launch?
BCG Launch is a virtual learning series created by Boston Consulting Group for current undergraduate and non-MBA master's students. The program provides an inside look at what consultants do, how BCG supports early-career Associates, and what the recruiting process looks like.
According to BCG's careers page, the program is designed for students who want an early start in consulting or are simply curious about where their interests could lead. Sessions are led by current BCG consultants and leaders who share real stories about their projects, career paths, and day-to-day work.
Participants in BCG Launch can expect to:
- Hear directly from BCG Associates and leaders about their project work across 30+ industries
- Learn how BCG helps Associates grow through MBA sponsorship, secondments, and career development programs
- Get practical recruiting tips, including resume advice and case interview prep
- Ask questions about consulting, BCG culture, and office selection
- Connect with BCG's Diversity Affinity Networks, including Black@BCG, Latin@BCG, Pride@BCG, and others
All sessions are completely optional. You can attend as many or as few as your schedule allows. BCG has stated that missing a session will not impact your future application to the firm. Most sessions are recorded and available on demand through the BCG Launch portal within 24 hours.
For additional questions about the program, you can email BCG's associate recruiting team at [email protected].
What Sessions Does BCG Launch Include?
The BCG Launch spring 2026 series includes seven sessions, each covering a different aspect of consulting and life at BCG. Sessions are hosted on Mondays via Zoom, and recordings are posted to the Launch portal within 24 hours. Here is the full schedule based on BCG's official program page:

Who Is Eligible for BCG Launch?
BCG Launch is open to all undergraduate and non-MBA master's students attending a college or university in the United States or Canada. There are no restrictions on field of study, GPA, or prior consulting experience. You do not need a business background to participate.
Previous participants are welcome to register again. BCG updates its programming each year, so returning students will see new content and speakers.
One important distinction: signing up for BCG Launch is not a job application. If you want to apply for an internship or full-time Associate role at BCG, you will need to submit a separate application through BCG's careers page. Check our full list of BCG application deadlines for specific dates.
How Do You Register for BCG Launch?
Registration for BCG Launch is free and straightforward. Here is the step-by-step process based on BCG's 2026 spring series:
1. Go to BCG's Launch registration page on their Eightfold platform and fill out the registration form with your name, email, school, and degree program.
2. After confirming your eligibility, BCG will send you an RSVP email. You only need to RSVP once to get access to all sessions.
3. If you RSVP by 3:00 PM ET on a Thursday, you will receive platform access the following Friday.
4. Once you have platform access, you can view event details, Zoom links, and past recordings. Zoom links are posted 5 minutes before each session begins.
For the 2026 spring series, sessions run from March 2 through April 20. The final day to register is April 27, and the Launch portal closes on May 29, 2026. BCG typically runs a second series in the summer. In previous years, the summer series ran from late June through July, with registration opening in May or June.
Is BCG Launch Selective?
No. BCG Launch is not a selective or competitive program. Any undergraduate or non-MBA master's student at a U.S. or Canadian college or university can register and participate. There is no application review, no acceptance rate, and no interview required.
This is different from other BCG programs that are invite-only or have limited spots, such as BCG Advance (for sophomore women) or Bridge to BCG (for advanced degree holders). BCG Launch is intentionally designed to be open and accessible to every eligible student, regardless of major, background, or experience level.
Your participation in BCG Launch also has no formal impact on your candidacy for BCG's internship or full-time roles. That said, attending sessions and engaging with BCG recruiters demonstrates genuine interest in the firm, which can only help when you eventually apply.
Why Should You Participate in BCG Launch?
BCG Launch gives you four meaningful advantages heading into consulting recruiting season. Having coached hundreds of candidates through the consulting interview process, I can tell you that students who attend programs like BCG Launch tend to be better prepared and more confident going into interviews.
First, you get to assess whether consulting is the right career for you. Through real case studies and firsthand stories from BCG consultants, you will learn what the job actually involves day to day. According to BCG, Associates work across 30+ industries solving complex challenges. BCG Launch lets you see what that looks like before you commit to months of interview prep.
Second, you learn what makes BCG different from other firms. Every consulting firm has a distinct culture. BCG's sessions cover growth opportunities like MBA sponsorship and secondments, their approach to staffing, and their Diversity Affinity Networks. This information is especially useful for answering "Why BCG?" during your interviews.
Third, you get insider recruiting tips. The Resume Workshop, Case Overview Workshop, and Recruiting @ BCG sessions are basically free coaching from the people who evaluate candidates. You will learn what BCG looks for in applications and interviews, straight from the source.
Fourth, you build early relationships with BCG consultants. Networking during BCG Launch can lead to referrals. According to Glassdoor, roughly 30% to 50% of hires at top consulting firms come through employee referrals. Starting those relationships early gives you a real edge, especially if BCG does not have a strong recruiting presence on your campus.
How Does BCG Launch Compare to Other BCG Programs?
BCG offers several early-career programs, and it is easy to confuse them. Here is how BCG Launch compares to BCG's other programs for students:

How Can You Get the Most Out of BCG Launch?
Registering for BCG Launch is just the first step. Here are practical tips to turn the program into a real advantage during recruiting season.
Attend sessions live whenever possible. The live Q&A portions are where you can ask specific questions that recordings cannot answer. Prepare one or two thoughtful questions in advance for each session. Avoid generic questions like "What do you like about BCG?" and instead ask about specific projects, decision-making processes, or career transitions.
Take notes on names and talking points. When a BCG consultant shares something that resonates with you, write it down. These details become powerful material for your "Why BCG?" answer during interviews. You can reference specific sessions and speakers when explaining your interest in the firm.
Follow up on LinkedIn after sessions. Send a brief, personalized connection request to the BCGers who presented. Mention something specific they said during the session. This is how you turn a virtual event into an actual networking relationship. In my experience at Bain, candidates who referenced specific conversations from events like these always stood out.
Use the Case and Math Workshops as a diagnostic. These workshops will show you where you stand on case interview readiness. If the math feels challenging or the case structure is unfamiliar, that is your signal to start dedicated case prep well before recruiting season begins.
Do not treat BCG Launch as your only preparation. The program is an introduction, not a substitute for serious interview prep. Use what you learn as a foundation, then invest the time to master case interviews and behavioral interviews separately.
What Should You Do After BCG Launch?
Once you have attended BCG Launch sessions, your next priority is preparing for the actual BCG recruiting cycle. Here are the four things you should focus on.
Perfect Your Consulting Resume
Your consulting resume is the single most important factor in determining whether you get an interview. According to top consulting firms, recruiters spend an average of 30 seconds reviewing each resume, so every line needs to count.
Follow these guidelines to make your resume stand out:
- Keep it to one page only, no exceptions
- Start every bullet with a past-tense action verb
- Include a specific number or metric in every bullet to quantify your impact
- Balance quantitative accomplishments (analyzing data, building models) with qualitative ones (leading teams, managing stakeholders)
- Avoid technical jargon, unfamiliar acronyms, and vague buzzwords
If you want professional help crafting a resume that will land consulting interviews, check out our resume review and editing service. It includes unlimited revisions and 24-hour turnarounds.
Prepare for Case Interviews
You will not receive a BCG offer without passing every single one of your case interviews. A case interview is a 20 to 40-minute exercise where you solve a hypothetical business problem in real time with your interviewer.
Common case interview question types include:
- Profitability decline: What is causing profits to fall and what should we do?
- Market entry: Should we enter this new market?
- Mergers and acquisitions: Should we acquire this company?
- Revenue growth: How can we increase revenues?
- New product: Should we launch this product?
Cases can come from any industry, and no prior industry knowledge is required. You will need strong problem solving, quantitative skills, and communication to succeed. If you want to learn proven case interview strategies in as little as 7 days, my case interview course walks you through everything step by step.
Prepare for Behavioral and Fit Interviews
In addition to case interviews, BCG will ask you behavioral and fit interview questions. These questions test whether you have the personal qualities BCG values and whether you have done your research on the firm.
Common behavioral questions at BCG include:
- Tell me about a time when you led a team
- Describe a situation where you resolved conflict
- Give an example of a time you went above and beyond
- Tell me about a time you failed and what you learned
Prepare 6 to 8 stories in advance that collectively cover leadership, teamwork, problem solving, resilience, and communication. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers, spending most of your time on the Action and Result portions.
You should also prepare answers to "Why consulting?" and "Why BCG?" since BCG asks these in nearly every interview. Your notes from BCG Launch sessions will be valuable here.
Network with BCG Recruiters and Consultants
Beyond BCG Launch, you should be networking with as many BCG recruiters and consultants as possible. Attend every BCG event your campus hosts and leverage LinkedIn to connect with BCGers you meet.
Building genuine relationships can lead to referrals, which significantly increase your chances of getting an interview. Referrals signal to recruiting teams that someone inside the firm has already vouched for your interest and potential.
Networking also helps you build a deeper understanding of BCG's work, people, and culture. That knowledge will make your interview answers more specific and compelling than candidates who have only read about BCG on the website.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Participating in BCG Launch Help You Get Hired?
BCG Launch does not guarantee a job or interview. Participation has no formal impact on your application. However, the knowledge you gain about BCG's culture, recruiting process, and interview format gives you a meaningful preparation advantage over candidates who do not attend. The networking opportunities can also lead to referrals that improve your chances of getting an interview.
Is BCG Launch Free?
Yes. BCG Launch is completely free for all eligible students. There are no costs or fees associated with registering or attending any of the sessions.
Can International Students Participate in BCG Launch?
BCG Launch is open to students attending a college or university in the United States or Canada. International students enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian institution are eligible to participate. Students attending schools outside of the U.S. and Canada should check with their local BCG office for similar programs in their region.
What If You Miss a BCG Launch Session?
Missing a session will not impact your BCG application or your access to the program. According to BCG, all sessions are recorded and posted to the Launch portal within 24 hours. You can watch recordings at your own pace until the portal closes.

Can You Attend BCG Launch More Than Once?
Yes. BCG encourages returning participants to register again. The programming is updated each year with new sessions, speakers, and content, so you will get value even if you attended a previous series.
